Dear Ms. McKinney,
As National Secretary of the Workers International League (WIL), publishers of Socialist Appeal, I am pleased to inform you that our organization has decided to endorse your "Power to the People" campaign. We believe that this election year, your candidacy is the best choice for working people, an important step toward breaking once and for all with the Democrats and Republicans and building a mass political alternative that truly represents the interests of the vast majority of Americans.
We are calling on working people and youth to vote for you as a way of saying "No!" to the wars in the Middle East, "No!" to U.S intervention in Latin America, "No!" to the bloated military budget, and "No!" to the big business war on our standard of living. A vote for you is a way to demand free education and health care for all. A vote for you is a way of saying that we want the unions to organize the unorganized, fight against concessions to big business, and for a better standard of living. A vote for you is a way to demand the repeal of Taft-Hartley and all anti-labor laws. A vote for you is a way of demanding immediate and unconditional amnesty for all immigrant workers and their families. A vote for you is a way of saying we don't support the two big business political parties, that we need a party that truly represents us. The WIL is in favor of building a mass party of labor, based on the unions, that fights for a socialist program. Such a party could bring together everyone from the anti-war movement to immigrant workers; from the victims of Katrina and gentrification to people young and old unable to afford health care, education or find a job. We see your campaign as the beginning of what will be a long but ultimately successful struggle for a better life for working people.
The WIL is active from Portland to San Francisco; Minneapolis to St. Louis; Pittsburgh to New York and several other cities in between. Please let us know how we can get involved in building your campaign. We look forward to working together in our struggle to defend and fight for the interests of the working class majority of U.S. society.
Sincerely,
John Peterson
