Dear Editor: Briana Nestler is right to say, "Don't vote for the lesser of two evils." Both major parties are owned outright by the corporate oligarchy, which is why their candidates' positions on "the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, warrantless wiretapping, health care, and corporate power" are usually identical.
In the 3rd District, anyone who thinks Democratic Congressman Ron Kind is the lesser evil needs to look at his voting record. Kind has repeatedly sided with the Bush administration's wars, including its war on the Constitution. He's among the worst in Congress in terms of raking in special interest money, which is saying something.
Kind and his corrupt cohorts are vulnerable this year. Congress' approval ratings sank to single digits last month, setting a new record low. Why? Because the people elected the 2006 Congress to end the war. It didn't. Fire the bums! To learn how, check out the Kick Them All Out Project.
Also, note that there are a number of good third-party candidates this year, including Libertarian presidential hopeful Bob Barr and Green Party sensation Cynthia McKinney, who has twice the brains and three times the cojones of the major party "men." If you like the idea of a woman president, but also like the idea of a person of color in the Oval Office, vote for McKinney and you'll get both -- and the best candidate as well. Check out her great new Web site.
